Caring for Your QUOC Shoes

General cleaning instructions

Cleaning your QUOC shoes after each ride is the simplest way to prevent dirt buildup and maintain their condition.

1. Remove dirt after each ride with a soft brush or cloth.
2. Clean with lukewarm water and mild soap.
3. Wipe down and rinse off any soap residue.
4. Stuff with paper towels to absorb moisture.
5. Let them air dry naturally, avoiding direct heat or sunlight to prevent cracking.

How often: Clean your shoes after every 3–5 rides, or immediately after riding in muddy or wet conditions.

Do not machine wash your QUOC shoes — this can damage the materials and weaken adhesives. Always clean them manually using a damp cloth and mild soap.

Dealing with tyre tapping marks

Marks on your shoes, especially white ones, can occur from contact with your tyres, which act as an abrasive surface. This is a common occurrence in cycling and can happen over time due to repeated exposure to tyre friction. While these marks may be unavoidable, regular cleaning and maintenance can help reduce their visibility.

To clean tyre marks: use a melamine sponge (Magic Eraser) to remove scuffs, and apply a mild cleaner like Cif for stubborn marks. Rinse with a damp cloth afterwards and let the shoes air dry thoroughly.

Heel pad maintenance

Heel pads provide stability and comfort but can loosen over time with regular use.

To tighten the heel pad screws: lift the insole to access them, then use a screwdriver to tighten any loose screws. Check periodically to ensure the heel pad stays secure. Avoid overtightening, as this may damage the screw or the shoe.

Dial maintenance and use

QUOC shoes feature advanced dial systems for precise adjustment and a secure fit. Regular maintenance helps ensure smooth operation and prevents stiffness or damage.

• The dial tightens by turning forward, and loosens with a single turn backward.
• Avoid over-tightening, as excessive force may cause the dial to break.
• If dirt or debris causes the dial to become stiff, rinse it with water while rotating it to flush out grime, then allow the shoes to dry completely before riding again.
• If the dial remains stiff after cleaning, contact our customer support team — all QUOC dial systems are covered by a lifetime warranty.

Replacement Dial 3.0 compatibility: designed specifically for the Gran Tourer III and Motion models. It can be fitted to some earlier QUOC models, though it wasn't originally designed for them — installation may be slightly more difficult and there may be a small amount of resistance when releasing the dial. It will generally function, but the experience may not be as smooth as on the newer models it was designed for.

Cleat compatibility

QUOC shoes are compatible with a variety of cleat systems — choosing the correct one for your riding style is essential.

Road shoes use a three-bolt cleat system. Compatible cleats include:

• Shimano SPD-SL
• Look Keo
• Time Xpresso

Off-road shoes use a two-bolt cleat system. Compatible cleats include:

• Shimano SPD
• Crank Brothers Eggbeater
• Time ATAC

Note: Installing cleats voids the return and exchange policy. Avoid over-tightening, as this will strip the bolt thread — follow the torque guidance from your cleat or pedal brand (Shimano recommends 4–6 Nm for SPD-style cleats).

Break-in period

QUOC shoes are designed for performance but may need a short break-in period to mould to your feet. This typically takes 2–4 weeks of consistent wear, depending on foot shape, riding intensity, and shoe type.

To speed things up: wear the shoes around the house with socks on to soften them, start with short, low-intensity rides, and make sure your cleats are adjusted properly to reduce pressure points.

Overshoes: care and usage

Overshoes protect your feet in temperatures between -2°C and 5°C, keeping them dry and insulated in wet weather and blocking wind in dry conditions. They're designed for road use only — QUOC is not responsible for damage if used with off-road shoes.

• Slip them on like a sock, then wear your cycling shoes as usual, adjusting the overshoe snugly (avoid overtightening, to help circulation).
• Rinse after use and air dry naturally.
• Avoid machine washing, to protect the waterproof lining.
